Golf R – the new Flagship

from vw 2013Wolfsburg, 21. August 2013 - It is the year of the Golf. The first six months of 2013 have already seen the debuts of the new Golf GTI, Golf GTD, Golf Estate and Golf TDI BlueMotion. Now, Volkswagen is continuing its Golf product offensive with the flagship of the model series – the new Golf R. The sports car is powered by a newly designed 300 PS TSI (221 kW), which is 30 PS stronger but up to 18 per cent more fuel efficient than that in the previous model. Like all three previous Golf R models, the new model also transfers its turbocharged engine power to the road via a permanent all-wheel drive system; in this case, it is the latest version of the 4MOTION system with a fifth-generation Haldex coupling.

New Golf Variant issues challenge to duel: New Volkswagen campaign kicks off

from vw 2013Variant as a car for every occasion in a new advertising campaign that kicks off just prior to the market launch. The focus is on the allrounder’s sporty character combined with its dynamic design and innovative technological equipment. The nationwide advertising campaign gets underway in Germany on August 9 with a TV ad, seven print motifs and a web special, and will subsequently be rolled out in other countries as well. The humorous tonality of the TV ad about the new Golf Variant has that typical Volkswagen touch. “The Duel” tells the story of two young rascals bickering about their dads’ cars, a Golf and a new Golf Variant. This amusing tussle ends in a draw, because the “The Golf of all estates” – the model claim – has everything that is typical of a Golf: Top design, a sporty driving experience, state-of-the-art technology and plenty of assistance systems. A key element of the digital campaign is an online special linked to www.volkswagen.de. The special features five short clips that continue the story of the two kids from the TV ad. An interactive 360-degree panorama and detailed model information round off the product presentation. With headlines such as “Looks sporty even on the way to the gym.” or “Loaded with assistants and yet the space is all yours.” the campaign’s print and billboard motifs highlight the sporty design and innovative technologies of the Golf Variant. The campaign was designed and implemented by adam&eveDDB, DDB Tribal Berlin and DDB Team Blue.
